Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the daily activities of the Sales Representatives (SRs) across the channels and ensures that the pre-determined sales quotas are achieved and customers receive a high quality of service. He/she is also responsible for working closely with the Marketing department to define campaigns and initiatives to raise brand awareness, grow the various brands into new channels, develop the team and ensure all activities are geared toward increasing top line revenue.

The position holder reports to the Managing Director (MD) and will work closely with the Sales Team in the accomplishment of the established goals and is responsible for (applies to the Company’s full range of products):

  1. Direct supervision and management of the Sales team in the execution of sales strategies and plans geared toward ensuring all sales targets are met.
  2. Expanding and/or deepening the Company’s relationships in the Retail, Industrial and Commercial sectors, Automotive Dealerships, and Key Accounts with respect to seeking growing share and securing new business opportunities.
  3. Developing presentations and execution of pitches to win business.
  4. Providing input into the Marketing and Promotional plans in support of delivering and exceeding targets.
  5. Translating annual sales budgets/targets into action plans consistent with established Company objectives and goals.
  6. Works closely with the SR to develop a Monthly Sales Plan with emphasis on sales targets by product category (cases, pails, drums) by customer which is supported by promotions and/or offers as required.
  7. Coordinating sales team support for training and capability building as well as to facilitate sales and marketing strategy implementation.
  8. Coaching and mentoring the Sales team, inclusive of performance management and training and development.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Monitor SR activities on a continuous basis and maintains sales tracking file to ensure that quotas are met; identify reasons for under performance and assist where necessary in achieving targets.
  • Tracks daily sales by product line/key SKUs and SR and reviews with SRs at intervals at least weekly their implied daily run rate sales requirements to meet target
  • Prepares weekly sales activity report drawing insights from customer visits and each SR activity, results and achievements highlighting progress to date, threats identified and recommendations.
  • Randomly audits the SR vs. the approved Customer Visit Schedule and investigates variances and seeks explanations for same; identifies issues which may be hindering them from adhering to the schedule. Monitor daily activities of direct reports.
  • Based on field visits, identify areas where products are not properly marketed and make recommendations to the marketing team to develop programs or promotions in these areas to raise brand awareness and execute same upon approval.
  • Addresses and resolves factors which may be negatively impacting the achievement of forecasted sales budgets.
  • Works with the Marketing Coordinator and SR to grow the VIP Program for Retailers and Mechanics as a key strategic pillar for building loyalty and delivering required sales. Also, to develop a marketing plan to deliver sales according to the sales plan. This should include the required marketing campaigns/promotions.
  • Works with the Brand Ambassadors in the Company owned Retail Stores to develop customer outreach programs as it relates to telemarketing initiatives and passes leads to BAs as necessary to grow store customer database, and ultimately grow sales supporting the efforts of the SRs and team.
  • Works with Marketing Representative – Industrial and Commercial to scope and deliver technical training sessions to assist the SRs to develop a strong understanding of company’s products as well as positioning versus competitive offerings.
  • Completes weekly and monthly report for submission and review by the MD and Accountant with sales versus budget, key insights, developments, risks and recommendations identified.
  • Prepares appraisals for SR every six (6) months ensuring that a plan to remedy all identified gaps with a timeline is prepared and implemented.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Takes all reasonable care to ensure that day-to-day activities do not pose a safety risk/hazard/violation to other employees within the division.
  • Liaises with the Health, Safety and Environment Manager/Officer/Designate on all instances of non-compliance by employees to the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2004 (rev 2006) and the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment guidelines so that immediate action could be taken to correct same.
  • Liaises with the Health, Safety and Environment Manager/Officer/Designate in all instances of non-compliance by employees with reference to the Company’s approved Health, Safety and Management System
  • Reports, as observed, all accidents/ incidents/ near misses to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager/Officer/Designate immediately so that investigations can commence in a timely manner.
  • Attends all safety meetings as outlined in the approved schedule or as directed by the Health, Safety and Environment
  • Participates in the Company’s programs;

- Permit to Work and Safe Work Systems.

  • Reports all instances of environmental non-compliance to the company’s Health, Safety and Management System to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager/Officer/Designate and in his absence the Divisional Manager: Fuel and Transport
  • Participates in the company’s Action Plan geared towards compliance to the OSH Act and the Environmental Management Authority.

QUALIFICATION/ SKILLS:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Sales / Business Management / Marketing
  • Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in progressive sales or lubricant sales, key accounts management and business development
  • Experience in the lubricants industry will be an asset
  • Should possess sound theoretical and practical knowledge of the sales function and marketing fundamentals.
