Toyota 1NZ-FXE is a 1.5 L (1,497 cc, 91.35 cubic inches) hybrid straight-four 4-stroke naturally aspirated gasoline engine from Toyota NZ-family.The 1NZ-FXE engine features a lightweight aluminum block and aluminum cylinder head with two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and four valves per cylinder (16 in total). Toyota described the 1NZ-FXE engine as having an “Atkinson cycle” since the compression stroke is shortened and the expansion stroke longer. The engine has a high physical compression ratio of 13.0:1, but the closing of the inlet valve is delayed, for an effective compression ratio of 9.5:1 Cylinder bore and piston stroke are 75.0 mm (2.95 in) and 84.7 mm (3.34 in), respectively. The engine produced 76 PS (56 kW; 75 HP) at 5,000 rpm of maximum horsepower and 110 Nm (11.2 kgm; 81.2 ft-lb) at 4,000 rpm of peak torque.

FAQs

How much horsepower does a 1NZ-FXE engine have? ›

This combination makes the 1NZ-FXE suitable for use with the Hybrid Synergy Drive, where peak torque and power demands can be met by the electric motor and battery. Output is 57 kW (77 PS; 76 hp) at 5000 rpm with 115 N⋅m (85 lb⋅ft; 12 kg⋅m) of torque at 4000 rpm.

What is the difference between 1NZ-FE and 1NZ-FXE? ›

Compared to the 1NZ-FE, however, the 1NZ-FXE engine had a maximum engine speed of 4500 rpm – this allowed the engine to have 'mild' valve timing, a smaller diameter crankshaft, lighter moving parts, less tension in the piston rings, reduced valve spring load and smaller bearings.

What is the best engine oil for a Toyota 1NZ-FE? ›

5W-30 (All TEMPS) - SAE 5W-30 is the best choice for good fuel economy and good starting in cold weather. If SAE 5W-30 is not available, SAE 10W-30 may be used. However, it must be replaced with SAE 5W-30 at the next oil change.

Which engine is better between 1NZ or 2NZ? ›

To answer your question, I would stay with the 2NZ. A used 1NZ, which probably has zero service history, could end up consuming a LOT of oil, as high mileage 1NZs are well known for oil consumption when they have a lot of miles on them. You are much better off staying with the 2NZ.

What is the life expectancy of a 1NZ engine? ›

There are practically no problems with 1NZ-FE/FXE engines on mileages up to 100,000 miles. But after that line, be prepared for high oil consumption, which usually increases during long rides with high rpm. Increased oil consumption primarily happens due to stuck piston rings or bad valve seals.

What is the difference between 1NZ and 2NR? ›

To the layman, they were both 1.5-liter inline-four engines with an automatic. Nonetheless, key characteristic differences saw the earlier 1NZ-FE a little punchier with more low-down torque whereas the newer 2NR-FE was more economical in terms of fuel but at the expense of some power.

What are the recommended spark plugs for a 1NZ engine? ›

NGK Iridium SPARK PLUG FOR TOYOTA 1NZ-FE 1. 5L PORTE NCP14R, RACTIS NCP100 NCP120.

What does Fe mean in Toyota engine? ›

For example, a 2GR-FE engine (used in the Avalon, RX 350, and Highlander) is a second-generation (2) engine in the GR-series featuring an economy narrow-angle valve direct overhead cam (F) with electronic fuel injection (E). The suffixes for Toyota engine naming are as follows: A - Valvematic variable lift intake head.

What is the valve clearance of the 1NZ-FXE? ›

Valve clearance (Cold): Intake 0.17 to 0.23 mm (0.007 to 0.009 in.) Exhaust 0.27 to 0.33 mm (0.011 to 0.013 in.) (d) Inspect the valve clearance indicated in the illustration. (1) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance be- tween the valve lifter and camshaft.

Which cars use the 1nz engine? ›

An engine we all love for its reliability and superb fuel economy. It has been used across the line on the Toyota Probox, Ractis, Fielder, Porte, Succeed, Sienta, Spade, Runion and even on the 1500cc variants of the Allion and Premio.

Is Mobil oil good for Toyota? ›

From the racetrack to the road, Mobil 1 motor oils are designed, tested and proven to deliver outstanding performance and protection for your Toyota engine. * Potential fuel economy improvement obtained by switching from higher viscosity oils to a lower viscosity grade.

What synthetic oil does Toyota recommend? ›

Genuine Toyota motor oil 0W-20 utilizes a Toyota-specific additive package that will provide the best results for oil performance and fuel economy. However, other 0W-20 synthetic oils can be used as long as they are ILSAC certified, which is found on the oil container label.

What is the most reliable Toyota engine of all time? ›

Without a doubt, the most reliable engine ever produced by Toyota has to be the 3B Diesel. These aren't powerhouse speed demons. However, the 3B (and other B Series engines built by Toyota and its subsidiaries) pushed out significant torque ratings at low RPMs.

Is 1NZ-FE a reliable engine? ›

Toyota generally runs its engine families for quite a long time, and the 1NZ-FE exemplifies that. Thankfully, it's a good little mill that's up to a number of tasks.

How much horsepower does a Toyota LR have? ›

Maximum power output is 560 PS (552 bhp; 412 kW) at 8,700 rpm.

How much horsepower does the S62 engine have? ›

The S62 was BMW's first V8 engine to have double-VANOS (variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts). The S62 engine produces 294 kW (400 PS; 394 hp) at 6600 rpm and 500 N⋅m (369 lb⋅ft) at 3800 rpm. The redline is 7000 rpm. The bore and stroke are 94 mm (3.7 in) and 89 mm (3.5 in) respectively.

How much horsepower does the Ecotech motor have? ›

Maximum power is 210 hp (160 kW) at 5300 rpm and 221 lb⋅ft (300 N⋅m) of torque at 2500 rpm.
